TIPS IMPORTANTES PARA APRENDER ESPAÑOL (O CUALQUIER IDIOMA) -IMPORTANT TIPS TO LEARN SPANISH (OR ANY OTHER LANGUAGE)

Thanks to my personal experience learning English throughout my life, (and suffering a lot!!!) and my experience teaching Spanish for the last 8 years, I have three tips that you can apply to your language journey today:

1)    FIND YOUR WHY, AND WHY DO YOU WANT TO LEARN SPANISH?

It is because you would like to move to any Spanish-speaking country, and you want to understand the locals and be able to have a conversation with them.

Or it is because you want to travel the world and challenge yourself to travel and speak with people and gain confidence speaking a second language.

So, take a moment to think. Why do you want to learn Spanish? How will your learning Spanish benefit your life? Maybe you'll get a better job and make more money, right?

Remember, why are you doing this? Because you will get to a point where you're tired and you're exhausted. And you feel like you're not advancing in your Spanish studies. Remind yourself why you're doing it.

And keep going, keep studying, don't give up!!!!

2)   PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE AND PRACTICE!

It is so important that you practice your speaking skills with native speakers or with other language learners. You need to exercise your mouth and try to produce language.

You must take out everything you have in your brain. You need to actively engage Spanish.

It sounds easy, right? But I notice with many of my students, and in my case learning English that the hardest thing about practicing, is not actually speaking, it's getting over the fear and the shame of making mistakes.

We are so ashamed of saying something wrong or saying something that sounds dumb or saying something that makes someone laugh at us that we block ourselves. We don't allow ourselves to practice

That's a problem. Remember, practice makes better but never perfect. So, with time, you'll improve, and you will gain confidence, and you'll learn more.

You'll learn to speak confidently and fluently but you will never speak perfectly. I have studied English for many years, and I live in an English-speaking country, and I don't speak English perfectly.

That's okay. At some point, we must accept our level and accept ourselves, and be happy and be proud of ourselves for the work that we put in, so, practice and get over the fear of making mistakes, trust me.

3)   CONSISTENCY AND DEDICATION

You need to develop consistency and dedication. Motivation is not enough to learn a language; motivation disappears like that. One day you wake up motivated, you're happy, you're ready to study but maybe the next day you think I don't want to study anymore. I'm not advancing¡, so you need to remember to be consistency.

You need to study every single day and expose yourself every single day to Spanish.

I don't want you to think that you need to read a textbook every day or read a chapter in a book every day or study grammar every day. You need to expose yourself to real Spanish a little every day. It could be watching a video on YouTube, or it can be watching an episode on Netflix, or listening to a Spanish podcast 5,10, 20 minutes a day.

It's not a Sprint. It's a marathon. You don't need to try to learn Spanish quickly.  You need to do a little every day and with time you will improve and become so much better, and you will get true fluency in Spanish, so be consistent and dedicate yourself to learning a little bit.

I really hope that you can apply these three learning tips in your Spanish Journey.
